Prestariang Anti-Corruption Talk - Controls and Procedures under the MACC Act 2018

Section 17A of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 (“MACC Act 2009”) came into effect on 1 June 2020 and is the latest amendment that has been introduced in the MACC Act 2009. Under this provision, essentially, directors and senior management are liable for the actions of the company if it is involved in bribery unless it can prove that it has successfully implemented adequate procedures to prevent bribery from happening.

On 19 June 2020, an anti-corruption and bribery talk, “Controls and Procedures under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (Amendment) Act 2018” was held at Prestariang’s corporate office in Star Central, Cyberjaya was delivered by Prestariang's Senior Manager, Legal and Corporate Governance, Sherliza Samantha Asli, to brief Prestariang's staff and protege trainees regarding the inclusion of the Corporate Liability Provision into the MACC Act 2009.

This is to ensure the employee’s holistic understanding of the new provision to promote and encourage better corporate governance and legal compliance.
