Google Cloud Achieves Empanelment to Advance Government's Digital Transformation Initiatives

Google Cloud today announced that it is fully empaneled to provide cloud services to Malaysian public sector agencies to support their digital transformation initiatives in alignment to the Government Economic Transformation Plan.

This morning, the Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin launched MyDIGITAL - the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint. The announcement detailed a new and comprehensive approach to existing information and digital technology initiatives, as well as the key Cloud Service Providers and Managed Service Providers for the implementation.

In line with the announcement, Google Cloud and local partner Prestariang Systems, a wholly-owned subsidiary of AwanBiru Technology Berhad (Awantec), have been selected to support government agencies with Google Cloud Platform and Google Workspace after an evaluation by the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU). The appointment is in respect of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS) and Anything as a Service (XaaS) for the next three years from 2021 to 2023. Google Cloud’s technology meets the Government’s advanced security infrastructure requirements and provides a collaborative platform for service delivery to the people.

“We congratulate the Government on the launch of MyDIGITAL and in taking a bold step forward to implement a new digital economy blueprint for the country. We are honoured to be selected and be part of this transformation plan. Full cloud service provider empanelment by MAMPU allows Google Cloud to continue playing a key role in supporting government agencies — directly and through our valued partners. We’re honoured to be fully certified by MAMPU to work with government agencies to harness our cloud services and collaboration tools with added peace of mind around security and compliance,” said Paul Wilson, Director, Public Sector, Google Cloud.

To further help government agencies with their digital transformation, Google Cloud will develop a Cloud Center of Excellence to deliver hands-on training around Google Cloud tools and technologies to public sector teams to drive best practices for cloud implementations.

Google Cloud will also work with MAMPU to develop a Creativity Skills for Innovation Lab to help foster a culture of innovation within the public sector. At the same time, Google Cloud and Prestariang Systems will be organising interactive workshops to support public sector organizations with user research and rapid prototyping with Google Cloud’s tools.

"We’re proud to work with Google Cloud as their partner to fulfil the needs of customers in Malaysia’s public sector, and to help them continue to optimize their cloud infrastructure and innovate to deliver new citizen services. With almost 20 years of experience in delivering technology and talent solutions to the Government, we are committed to drive the technology industry in Malaysia towards and beyond the new digital economy,” said Syed Naqiz Shahabuddin, Chairman, Awantec.
