Awantec Drives Talent Management System and Digitalisation of Selangor Kerjaya Programme


AwanBiru Technology Berhad (Awantec) joined the Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI Selangor) today in a virtual launch of the Selangor Kerjaya Programme implemented to provide skills training and job placement for 10,000 job seeking Selangorians.


The Selangor Kerjaya Program is an initiative by the Selangor State Government to drive the state economy forward through elevating skills sets of workforce and effective career matching for employees and employers. The ‘Train & Place’ segment of the Selangor Kerjaya Program will be implemented by Awantec Group. Selangor Kerjaya Program is set to mitigate the impact of job losses caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.


The Selangor Kerjaya Programme was launched and officiated virtually by YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Bin Shari, Dato’ Menteri Besar of Selangor, and participated by Puan Hajah Norita Mohd Sidek, Chief Executive Officer of MBI Selangor along with Dr. Abu Hasan Ismail, President/Group Chief Executive Officer of Awantec.


Awantec Group started mobilization of the Selangor Kerjaya Programme in November 2020 when its wholly-owned subsidiary, Prestariang Systems Sdn Bhd received the contract appointment from MBI valued at approximately RM50 million, of which, will be based on actual number of candidates successfully trained and placed. The 3-year Program is set to benefit 10,000 job seeking Selangorians. The target for 2021 is to provide 2,000 job opportunities that will be filled by graduates from institutes of higher learning, high school graduates including vocational academy and retrenched workforce.


Awantec will provide profiling, upskilling and job placement as well as analytics, intelligence and digitalization to the Selangor state government. This will give advantage to the State in strategic economic planning and improve employment opportunities of its residence in future.


The virtual launch was also graced by the participations of Mr. Brian Sim, Managing Director of Kelly Services (M) Sdn Bhd, Mr. Ray Teng Say Aun, Chief Executive Officer of Agensi Pekerjaan AJobThing Sdn Bhd, Ms. Siti Shafinaz Md Salim, Head Technology Hub Development of Cyberview Sdn Bhd, Ms. Sophy Malik, Senior Channel Sales Director of Skillsoft, Mr. Raja Azmi Adam, Public Sector Director of Google Malaysia and Mr Shobhit Srivastava, Senior Manager Strategic Accounts of SHL Sdn Bhd.


The Selangor Kerjaya Program contract is expected to contribute positively towards the earnings and net assets per share of Awantec Group.
