Since 2023, the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Awantec have forged a strong partnership dedicated to the digital upskilling of nearly half a million educators across the nation. Through AI-driven immersive learning platforms, including Sistem Pengurusan Pembelajaran (SiPP), this partnership opens the door to a more innovative and tech-enabled future in education.

In a significant milestone for digital education in Malaysia, the SiPP platform has entered the Malaysia Book of Records for organising the ‘Penyertaan Terbesar Golongan Pendidik Dalam Latihan AI’ (Largest Participation of Educators in AI Training).

The record-breaking achievement stems from the response to the "AI Essentials for Educators: Foundations, Ethics, and Application" programme, a comprehensive AI training programme designed to accelerate the grasp of AI among educators across the nation to cultivate AI literacy and promote practical integration of AI in the education sector, aligning with Malaysia’s vision of future-ready education.

A total of 394,445 educators across Malaysia participated in the programme, reflecting their dedication to upskilling and digital literacy in the education sector. Out of these, 112,745 educators successfully completed the course, earning a collective 3,261,812 digital badges.

This achievement not only underscores Malaysia’s progressive strides in digital transformation within the education landscape but also showcases the readiness of educators to embrace emerging technologies, enriching the learning experiences and outcomes for students.

“Awantec is honoured to work with MOE and serve as its strategic partner to empower and enhance the teachers' competency while ensuring the digital fluency among teachers and educators," said En. Azlan Zainal Abidin, Chief Executive Officer, Awantec. “As the country prepares to face technological challenges and digital changes, it is essential that the teachers and school leaders are digitally literate.”

The success of the programme signals a pivotal shift in how Malaysian educators are preparing to integrate AI effectively in the classrooms, paving the way for a more innovative and progressive education system.

As Malaysia continues its journey towards becoming a digitally empowered nation, initiatives like this reaffirm the vital role of educators in driving technological adoption for education purposes.
