  • Enriching Malaysia's Digital Talent

Over the last couple of years, most companies were forced to adapt and embrace digitalisation due to the government sanctioned lockdowns. Digitalisation often focuses on new solutions or innovations through the use of new technologies such as cloud-based environments and artificial intelligence. However, without the right talent, technology will just be technology. Therefore, in this fast changing digital era, organisations need to start empowering their workforce to remain competitive and relevant. According to MDEC’s Digital Talent Snapshot report, there were 261,077 digital talents available in Malaysia in 4Q last year, and 55.2% of them were located in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. Whereas a survey conducted by Robert Walters found that technology-driven roles such as artificial intelligence, e-commerce, digital marketing as well as data analytics are highly sought after skills and on the upward trend. The COVID-19 pandemic has taught most companies to understand the critical nature and importance of a digitally educated workforce as well as the urgent need to reskill, upskill and cross-skill the existing workforce, while carrying on the hiring of new digital talents at the same time. Awantec, a leading technology and talent digitalisation enabler is offering its training courses on e-LATiH, the Human Resource Development Corporation's (HRD Corp) digital learning platform. Working hand-in-hand with Skillsoft, a widely recognised global leader in the e-learning industry which offers a variety of engaging and effective learning experiences, including interactive courses, videos, books, and simulations. Awantec was awarded Skillsoft’s “APAC Partner of the Year award 2022” in recognition of Awantec’s commitment and success in delivering upskilling programs. Offering training courses on HRD Corp e-LATiH represents a major milestone for Awantec and Skillsoft, as it opens up new avenues for growth and provides a platform to reach out to a wider audience, particularly the 74,000 HRD Corp registered SMEs with over 1.8 million employees. Companies or organisations who frequently face challenges due to affordability or the inability to release employees for training will be given the opportunity to be upskilled using their existing levy contribution for e-learning. Over 70 courses from personal improvement and development, cybersecurity and IT fundamentals such as Blockchain fundamentals, Big Data, Rocheston Certified Cybersecurity Specialist, etc are available on the e-learning platform. This effort will provide Awantec and Skillsoft an opportunity to make inroads into the commercial training market and reach out to SMEs. With this access to e-learning, SMEs can now upskill their employees using their existing levy contribution, leading to increased productivity and competitiveness.

  • Fast Track Your Workplace Digital Transformation

In the last couple of years, we faced an atypical situation due to COVID-19 which pushes many organisations to redesign their processes, adopting remote or hybrid working environments and accelerate their digital transformation initiatives. Innovative and flexible solutions that can help employees and organisations has become an essential tool. Awantec, Malaysia’s leading digital transformation enabler offers a comprehensive Work Transformation service, that would cater to your organisation’s need for digital transformation. The solutions offered will help to elevate your organisation from having legacy systems to modern infrastructure. Through the strategic partnership between Awantec and Google, our Work Transformation service is an ideal solution for organisations who are looking for cloud migration solutions to transform the future of their workplace. Awantec’s valuable offerings through Google Workspace will not only increase collaboration and communication between the organisation’s employees but also it will help to increase productivity as well as reducing the IT cost. Google Workspace makes collaboration so much easier as decisions can be made on the spot through seamless video conferencing, which can be done from anywhere via any camera-enabled computer, phone or tablet. Collaboration on Google Workspace can be done in real-time as the platform allows multiple people within or people outside your organisation to work simultaneously on documents, spreadsheets, and slides across any devices, and every change is saved automatically. As a cloud-based platform, Google Workspace platform can be accessed 24/7, from any location. This allows employees to have the freedom to access any information from anywhere and from any device, which will lead to significant improvements in efficiency and productivity. This new way of working will definitely outweigh the inefficiencies of working based on isolated and computer-dependent productivity tools. The offline features on Google Workspace made it possible to work offline when the network is not available. For example, if an employee prefers to have a copy of the file to be hosted locally on their computer for offline working, Google’s File Stream can sync the latest version of the content onto the computer to ensure that the employee is always working with the latest files and don’t need to waste their time moving or duplicating them. Google Workspace is designed to meet strict privacy and security standards. They implemented rigorous, industry-leading security protocols for both of their physical data centres and cloud-hosted operations. This is to protect your organisation’s data with security options like 2-Step Authentication and Single Sign-On. All these security settings can be easily configured from a centralised administration console which is available 24/7. ok Overall, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed business ecosystems globally and new technologies as well as innovations definitely played a crucial role in this time of crisis. The pandemic has spurred technology innovation and adoption with the rise in contactless technology and changes in the business landscape. As most organisations are adapting to the “new normal”, Google Workspace keeps pace with the market needs by releasing new features and innovations that makes collaboration and communication more seamless. If you are an organisation or an enterprise looking to transform your business through technology and innovation, please contact us at inquiry@awantec.my to start the conversation today.

  • Change is Inevitable

Over the past decade, organisations have been consistently putting digital transformation as a top priority in their business. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the change, making what was unthinkable years before that, a new norm (i.e like the entire organisations working remotely). Yet, despite the idea of digital transformation gaining lots of traction and prominence in the business world, some organisations continue to struggle with technology adoption or change management among the employees. In the era of digitisation, organisations are under pressure to remain relevant and competitive. Although new technology adoption can be quite daunting and complex for some companies and businesses, change management is extremely important to ensure that digital transformation initiatives are successful. Many organisations have been reimagining the way they do their business since the pandemic. Each organisation will have a unique digital transformation’s journey, where some would introduce AI or cloud computing to enhance its customer experience or redesign its supply chain by using machine learning. Regardless of how companies choose to embed technology into their businesses, this will drive fundamental changes where it will increase efficiency and business agility, but ultimately, unlock new value for employees, customers and other stakeholders. Adoption of cloud computing is increasing rapidly in Southeast Asia. In Malaysia, the cloud computing industry is expected to grow to US$3.7 billion in 2024 with a 13% compound annual growth rate (CAGR). The emergence of cloud technology migration has been a major agenda in the field of computing over the last decade as it brings several advantages to businesses. Besides providing scalability, cost savings, and better security compared to on-premise solutions, it allows companies to access real-time data and analytics for better and faster decision-making. Because these technologies provide a scalable and secure ecosystem capable of cross-functional integration, cloud computing is an on-demand option for businesses to quickly adopt IT resources as well as remotely access their data anytime and from anywhere in the world. The government through the MyDigital initiative has been pushing a “cloud-first” strategy in both federal and state governments to help drive the adoption of cloud services in Malaysia. This is in line with the country’s aspiration to become a technologically-advanced economy by 2030. To meet the growing demands for cloud services in Asia Pacific, Google Cloud has announced their plans to include Malaysia into their cloud region in August 2022. This move would position the country as the key enablers to empower every Malaysian digitally through the development of technologies that will benefit the rakyat. Both the public sector as well as enterprises have been well aware of the need to go digital first since the COVID-19 pandemic by taking the traditional way of doing business into capitalising enablers such as Google Cloud to improve their operational efficiencies. In every case, though, starting a digital transformation journey requires a new mindset. It is a chance to reimagine how companies do things, often from the ground up. If you are an organisation looking to drive change in the future of work within your organisation through technology, please contact us at inquiry@awantec.my to start the conversation today.

  • Transform Your School's Existing Devices

Before the world was hit by the pandemic, most schools had already eyed to alter their technological needs to reform their educational systems. In Malaysia's Education Blueprint 2013-2025, part of the education reformation, schools need to provide every student in the country with access to a computing device and a web connection. Long ago, knowledge was stored in printed books and physical access to these materials were limited to students. However today, with the right tools, teaching and learning can be much more accessible and collaborative. At the end of 2013, more than 10 million students, teachers and parents have benefited from the Malaysian Ministry of Education’s first nationwide initiatives; 1BestariNet project which provides access to the Frog, a web-based learning platform that includes Google Apps for Education. As part of the initiative, the Ministry has also deployed Chromebooks for teaching and learning to all 10,000 schools nationwide. Chromebooks, a new kind of computer, offers fast, simple and secure computing besides being cost effective and manageable. Running on ChromeOS, educators can leverage on the full capabilities of ChromeOS which uses the latest multi-layered security features and automatic updates, the Chromebook is easy to deploy using the Chrome partner ecosystem. School administrators can also manage the user profiles, hardware and internet connection from the central Google Admin Console which frees up the IT resources and allows educators more time to focus on learning outcomes. In 2018, the Japanese government launched the GIGA (Global and Innovation Gateway for All) School Program as part of their initiative to create a Society 5.0, whereby it incorporated artificial intelligence (AI), big data and the Internet of Things. This program allows the local boards of education to provide a device for each student in Grades 1-9. At the end of June 2020, only 15 percent of classes were online. However, when the pandemic hit globally, the Japanese government through its Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, accelerated the program by allocating two-thirds of GIGA’s planned budget allocated for PCs. To prepare the educators, the ministry along with the Boards of Education has cooperated with Google to provide a platform that is secured, easy to manage and great for collaboration as well as student centered learning. In 2022, Google announced ChromeOS Flex, another version of ChromeOS that allows schools to modernise their PC and Mac devices without any additional cost. • Making Cloud-first IT Technology the Top Choice for Your Business

For more than a decade, Google has provided us with reliable and secured browsers. Now that the future of work has evolved after the pandemic, organisations have started to look into digitisation for their business operations after realising that their employees are heavily reliant on web-based applications that are accessible anytime and anywhere on any device to support their work. Thus, the IT department scrambled to make sure that the organisation can provide their employees with the flexibility to access business applications, but at the same time ensuring that security, speed and user experience are not compromised. Therefore, choices made by the IT department are crucial as it will set up the organisation for success by selecting the right operating system that will drive productivity, cost effectiveness, drive efficiency and reliability. Google ChromeOS has come a long way since its launch in 2009, with the goal to build the simplest, fastest and most secure operating system. Since then, the software has evolved considerably and was inspired by businesses who have embraced Chrome, from Chrombooks in the office, to shared Chrome devices in the field and in the retail industry. The birth of Chrome Enterprise in 2017 marked a significant milestone for Google after a learning based on different business needs, but all comes down to the need of having a single, cost-effective solution that is able to give them the flexibility and control to keep their employees connected. Chrome Enterprise combines the business capabilities of Chrome browser, ChromeOS, and ChromeOS devices to power your cloud workforce including access to enterprise app storefronts, deep security controls, 24/7 support, as well as integration with cloud and on-premise management tools, VMware Workspace ONE and Microsoft Active Directory. Businesses of all types can benefit from Google Chrome Enterprise, a cloud-first operating system and devices that are easy to manage even remotely, deploy quickly and have built-in security to provide a modern employee experience. In 2022, Google announced ChromeOS Flex, another version of ChromeOS that allows organisations to modernise their PC and Mac devices without any additional cost. This cloud-first OS is a sustainable way to modernise your existing devices as it is easy to deploy across all your PCs and Macs as it is: Fast, modern work experience from anywhere Fast deployment and easy management Proactive security Make the most of your existing hardware If you are an organisation looking to drive change in the future of work within your organisation through technology, please contact us at inquiry@awantec.my to start the conversation today.

  • Turbocharge Your Research

For decades many would understand the High Performing Computing (HPC) system as the supercomputer that consists of millions of processors or processor cores which typically would perform more than one million times faster than any fastest desktop computer, laptop or normal server systems. As technology advances, HPC workloads are used to uncover important new insights that combine the likes of artificial intelligence and machine learning, enabling organisations to make split-second decisions. Typically, HPC leverages on a massive parallel computing that runs multiple tasks simultaneously on numerous computer servers or processors using tens of thousands to millions of processors or processor cores using high-speed and high-performance components that could keep pace and optimise the computing power and performance of the cluster. Over the last decade, universities have leveraged on HPC for a higher return of investment through the activities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). HPC resources has become a competitive differentiator for institutions especially when there is a surge in demand from HPC users such as university’s researchers and innovators where these supercomputers could take their research to the next level when it helped to computationally accelerated research in fields of health data analytics, bioinformatics, numerical modelling, and machine learning. As HPC is all about speed and scale, Google Cloud provides significantly faster, more scalable and more flexibility to help accelerate time to completion, so that organisations can convert ideas into discoveries and inspirations into products. Infrastructures plus ecosystem capabilities (such as AI and data analytics) hosted in a cloud service has made it possible for organisations to own HPC rather than having the HPC clusters on premise where organisations can build their own supercomputer by using the latest Intel and AMD processors, NVIDIA GPUs, high-throughput, low-latency object and file storage (network-attached storage (NAS)) while still able to control and manage the cost. Google Cloud HPC Toolkit features a modular design that enables composable HPC environments that easily define and deploy both simple and complex HPC environments. The toolkit allows organisations to create a HPC cluster with an existing blueprint or modify it based on different needs to build different configurations.
